The new Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iceland Torgerdur Katrin Gunnarsdottir, who visited Ukraine for the first time in this role, arrived in Kyiv.
During the visit, Gunnarsdottir met with Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiga. They discussed the implementation of the Peace Formula, the strengthening of Russia’s political and economic isolation, as well as steps towards the just establishment of peace in Ukraine.
Sybiga thanked Iceland for its support, in particular in the fields of demining, logistical support, training of the Ukrainian military, financing of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine, as well as the initiative for prosthetics for wounded servicemen.
Gunnarsdottir declared Iceland’s readiness to continue supporting Ukraine, in particular by financing the humanitarian program Grains from Ukraine.
The ministerial negotiations were a continuation of the security agreement concluded last year and the visit of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi to Reykjavik, which opened a new stage of partnership between Ukraine and Iceland.
Earlier, Ukraine and the new Syrian government discussed the supply of humanitarian aid with food.
Earlier, Ukraine provided assistance to the Syrian rebels in the form of FPV drone operators.
