On December 19, the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv chose a preventive measure for the head of the Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries (KRAIL) Ivan Rudohy. He is suspected of facilitating the operation of Russian online casinos.
As Suspilne writes, the court decided to take Rudy into custody without the right to bail until February 4, 2025.
Rudy himself, in a comment to Suspilno after choosing a preventive measure, said that the accusations against him were fabricated.
“These are completely nonsense and very carelessly fabricated accusations that have no basis, no meaning, no cause and effect at all,” he said.
When asked if he knew that the company that was issued a license to conduct gambling business was connected to the Russian Federation, Rudy replied that it was the Security Service of Ukraine that was competent to provide any comments or conclusions regarding this or that applicant, KRAIL does not have such functions and capabilities.
On December 18, employees of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) and the Prosecutor General’s Office detained Rudo on suspicion of facilitating the operation of a Russian online casino in Ukraine and illegal possession of drugs. During the searches of the head of KRAIL, law enforcement officers discovered and seized a large amount of cocaine.
According to the SBI, during the pre-trial investigation it was established that KRAIL, which is headed by Rudy, issued and on his instructions deliberately did not take actions to revoke the license for the organization of gambling games on the Internet to a commercial structure, the beneficial owner of which is Russians, and its representatives facilitated Russian Federation
