From January 1, 2026, the Cabinet proposes to set a subsistence minimum at the level of 3 209 UAH per person per month.
Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko has informed about it.
During an hour of questions to the government, the deputies asked if the average Ukrainian could live for 3 209 UAH, which the government provided in the state budget project for 2026.
The Minister noted that the government is going to uphold the subsistence minimum, in particular, “to make it sufficient and understandable to determine life.”
At the same time, the government is constantly working to increase the living wage, Marchenko added.
It is known that from January 1, 2026 it is proposed to establish a subsistence minimum per person per month in the amount of 3 209 UAH. And for the main social and demographic groups of the population:

children under six years of age – 2 817 UAH;

children from 6 to 18 years – 3 512 UAH;

able -bodied people – 3 328 UAH;

people who have lost their ability to work – UAH 2 595;
-
people who have lost their ability to work (used to determine the amount of payment for accommodation in the territories of radioactive contamination by court decisions) – UAH 1.6 thousand.
The Cabinet of Ministers laid in the project of the State Budget-2026 raising the minimum wage from January 1: in the monthly amount-8 647 UAH, in the hourly-52 UAH.
Teachers will receive a work allowance in difficult conditions in the amount of 2 thousand hryvnias and in 2026, but the increase in the basic salary is not currently provided.
