The Cabinet of Ministers approved a draft law that provides for increased liability for curfew violations.
People’s deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko reported this.
The document provides for the introduction of separate administrative responsibility for:
- violation of the curfew: staying in public places during the prohibited time without passes (from 50 to 100 of the tax-free minimum income of citizens, that is 850-1700 hryvnias.);
- violation of evacuation rules: entering or staying in populated areas where mandatory evacuation is in progress without special permits (from 30 to 50 tax-free minimum income of citizens, that is 510-850 hryvnias.).
At the same time, the bill contains exceptions. Yes, fines will not be applied to people who go to shelters, to provide medical (pre-medical) assistance or to accompany the injured and seriously ill, to carry out evacuation or rescue of property and in other cases of threat to citizens’ lives.
As Honcharenko emphasized, this is not yet a final decision, because the government draft law must be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada for consideration.
The curfew includes a ban on being on the streets, visiting other public places, moving in populated areas by vehicle or on foot. This can be done only with a special pass. From February 24, 2022, a curfew was introduced throughout Ukraine, but the law does not provide for punishment for its violation.
Earlier, a petition with a call to reduce the curfew in Kyiv gathered the required number of signatures, but it was rejected.
We will also remind you that in Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region, the curfew has become shorter since December 13.
