The government established scholarships in memory of the fallen defenders

The Cabinet of Ministers supported the establishment of scholarships in memory of defenders who died in the struggle for independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine. The Cabinet of Ministers supported the establishment of scholarships in memory of defenders who died in the struggle for independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

This was announced by the Minister of Defense Denys Shmyhal.

From now on, 30 such scholarships will be paid to cadets, trainees and adjuncts of military “universities” belonging to the sphere of administration of the Ministry of Defense.

The amount of scholarships

  • For cadets (obtaining bachelor’s or master’s degrees): 4,000 hryvnias per month.

  • For trainees and adjuncts of military “universities”: 10,000 hryvnias per month.

Shmyhal emphasized that “encouraging cadets and trainees to achieve academic success should be based on examples of heroism and courage of our defenders.”

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine plans to double academic scholarships for more than 163,000 students from September 1, 2026. This is provided for in the 2026 draft state budget.
