The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the new composition of the Supervisory Board of NAEK “Energoatom” on the proposal of the nomination committee, which became part of a large-scale restart of the management of strategic energy enterprises.
As Prime Minister Yulia Svyridenko reported in Telegram, the renewed body includes seven specialists: four independent members and three representatives from the state. The competitive selection took place according to a full procedure with the participation of international observers from the EU, EBRD and IFC, which was supposed to ensure maximum transparency after the early termination of the powers of the previous board in November 2025 amid corruption scandals.
Vitaly Kindrativ (Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture), Serhiy Sukhomlyn (Chairman of the State Agency for Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure) and Maksym Malashkin (State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy) became representatives of the state in the supervisory board. The independent part of the council was formed by reputable international experts: Rumina Velshi, who previously headed the nuclear regulator of Canada, Laura Harbenchute-Bakiene, a finance and audit specialist with experience at the Ignalina NPP, Patrick Fragman, former president of the Westinghouse company, and lawyer in the field of energy regulation Brice Bouillon.
At the first meeting with the newly appointed board, the government set the task of immediately electing a new management of Energoatom, and for the transition period, instructed to replace the current temporary management of the company. In addition to personnel decisions, the supervisory board must conduct a comprehensive audit of the company’s previous activities, in particular, analyze all contracts, purchases and results of auctions for the sale of electricity. Such an in-depth analysis with the involvement of data from law enforcement agencies and the media should become the foundation for overcoming the consequences of abuses and restoring trust in the largest electricity producer in Ukraine.
The government terminated the powers of the Energoatom supervisory board early on November 11 against the background of Mindichgate.
Energy atom helped Derkach’s henchman, People’s Deputy Zheleznyak, fled abroad .
