Prosecutors sent an indictment to the court against the former head of the Department of State Emergency Services in Ivano-Frankivsk region. The exhibition gardener organized the illegal felling of 329 trees in the general zoological reserve “Black Forest”, causing losses to the state in the amount of more than UAH 7.3 million.

According to the investigation, the former boss, without any permits, gave an illegal instruction to his subordinates to cut down trees on the territory of the reserve, which is part of the nature reserve fund of the Ivano-Frankivsk region.
Management employees carried out this order in August 2023 under the guise of firefighting personnel training. Since the damage was not compensated, the prosecutor’s office appealed to the court with a claim to recover the specified amount from the accused.
Earlier, the Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko reported that the state enterprises “Forests of Ukraine” and “LIAC” discovered the facts of damages to the state and the acquisition of unjustified assets by officials. This is the result of systemic corruption, official negligence and outright enrichment at the expense of natural resources.
As a reminder, the National Police of Ukraine exposed employees of the enterprises “Forests of Ukraine” and “Forestry Innovation and Analytical Center”, who illegally sold wood for millions of hryvnias.
