In the Zhytomyr region, the first production of bio-glue from peas in Ukraine started in the Korosten industrial park. Investments in the project amount to 40 million euros.
Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Development, Dmytro Kisylevsky, announced this, calling it unique.
Bioglue is needed for the production of wooden eco-plates, which are used in construction and the furniture industry. The plant needs 1 million tons of peas per year, which is more than double the gross harvest of this crop in 2024.
Korostenskyi Zavod MDF, the investor of the project, is negotiating with farmers of Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad and Dnipropetrovsk regions about the expansion of sown areas and long-term contracts for the supply of peas. The climate of these regions allows two harvests per year.
“To implement the project, the investor took advantage of the opportunity to import equipment without paying VAT, which the law provides for participants of industrial parks,” the deputy said.
At the same time, the company is building a similar enterprise in the “BF Terminal” industrial park in Transcarpathia. It is planned that 90% of eco-boards will be exported, and the products will comply with EU regulation 2023/1464, which from August 2026 strengthens the requirements for formaldehyde content in adhesive mixtures for MDF and HDF.
