Tomorrow, December 26, the first meeting of the working group on the preparation of elections and referenda during martial law and in the post-war period will take place. About 60 people have already been involved in the group – representatives of parliamentary factions, public organizations, authorities and the Central Election Commission. The meeting will be broadcast online on social networks and YouTube, said the head of the working group, the first vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Oleksandr Kornienko.
The meeting will consist of two blocks. The first is organizational. “We will talk about how we will work further. There is an idea to unite in thematic subgroups for technical discussions, and then discuss all this in a large group and finalize it,” explained Kornienko.
The working group includes two representatives from all parliamentary factions and groups, up to 10 people from key public organizations, as well as representatives of executive authorities and law enforcement agencies. In addition, the group consists of five members of the CEC headed by the chairman, as well as representatives of the secretariats and the apparatus of the parliament, who fix the technical component.
The second block of the meeting is devoted to the hearing of the Central Election Commission. “Members of the CEC will prepare an overview presentation, where they will raise all the problems that exist during the elections in the war and post-war period, and then we will exchange opinions on how to solve them,” said Kornienko. The meeting will last approximately two hours.
As the deputy speaker of the parliament added, in addition to the main participants, people without the status of members of the working group, but with the right to participate in the discussion, can join the discussion.
