Ukraine continues to actively support food security in vulnerable regions of the world within the Grain from Ukraine program.
This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The first 500 tons of flour have already been sent to Syria, which is under the administration of a new government after the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime. This was made possible thanks to the cooperation with the World Food Program (WFP).
Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiga together with Minister of Agrarian Policy Vitaly Koval discussed plans for further food supplies to Syria and other countries that need support.
Other directions of assistance within the initiative:
- Mozambique: Ukraine has already sent a batch of sunflower oil — 416 tons, which will arrive in early February.
- Djibouti: 73.4 tons of sunflower oil and 970.5 tons of flour will be delivered in January.
- Tanzania: It is planned to send 453 tons of sunflower oil.
This initiative demonstrates Ukraine’s readiness to contribute to global food security, despite the difficult conditions in which the country is located.
It will be recalled that Ukraine and the new Syrian government previously discussed the supply of humanitarian aid with food.
Recently, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine is interested in opening grain hubs in African countries.
