Prosecutors of the Donetsk Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the field of defense of the Eastern region completed an investigation into a resonant case against two former officials of one of the military units.
The indictment has already been sent to court – they are charged with abuse of office, which led to grave consequences (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation found that from March 2023 to August 2024 the expirer of the commander of the military unit together with the former commander of the material support battalion organized a scheme of use of subordinates for their own purposes.
Instead of performing military duties, three servicemen were involved in the construction and service of a private home of one of the executives. All this time, they did not participate in the service, but received an additional remuneration – 100 thousand hryvnias a month, as “combat” payments.
Thus, for a year and a half, the state was UAH 2.7 million. Payments were made at the expense of the budget, and servicemen actually performed works not related to the defense or protection of the country.
The actions of officials are qualified as a deliberate use of office contrary to the interests of the service in order to obtain undue benefit, which caused significant damage to the state.
The pre -trial investigation was conducted by detectives of the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine, and operational support was provided by employees of the Department of Strategic Investigations in Donetsk Oblast DSR of the National Police of Ukraine.
The accused is threatened with imprisonment for a term of three to six years, as well as deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions.
We will remind, in Kiev law enforcement officers detained a 34-year-old man who promised to help the serviceman to go abroad, having issued documents on fictitious disability and removing him from military registration. For his services, the suspect wanted to get $ 50,000.
We have already reported that the Security Service of Ukraine, together with the National Police, detained two groups of saboteurs who operated on the request of Russian special services in Kyiv and Kharkiv. In total, five people were detained, the youngest of them – only 15 years.
