The State Border Service of Ukraine records a noticeable decrease in the number of attempts to illegally cross the state border, although it has not yet been possible to completely stop this flow.
According to the agency, people who want to leave the country outside of legal procedures still regularly try to use loopholes in border security and offer intermediaries significant sums for organizing such routes.
Despite this, the general dynamics indicate a decline in the activity of violators, which border guards attribute to increased control, regular detentions and high-profile exposures of smuggling schemes.
As Andrii Demchenko, the spokesperson of the State Border Service, explained, compared to the same period last year, law enforcement officers exposed more illegal groups that specialized in illegal border crossing.
It is not about a drastic increase, but about an indicative increase, which shows that the organizers of illegal routes are actively changing their tactics, and the border guards are keeping up with these changes.
At the same time, in recent months, the number of attempts to leave Ukraine illegally has been gradually decreasing, as can be seen from the operational reports of the service.
According to Demchenko, the peak of arrests of such violators this year fell on August — that was when the largest number of cases of organized group attempts to break through to the border were recorded.
We will remind you that in Ukraine, the departure of young men of conscription age is recorded, but their share among the total passenger flow remains insignificant.
