According to the investigation, in the spring of 2022, the attacker, while in his position, concluded an agreement with a private company for the purchase of wholesale parties of food products and their supply to the Armed Forces. The cost of production was artificially overstated by 41%, and the price for the organization of its supply – by 221%.
The Ministry of Defense official did not carry out a proper verification of the validity of these amounts and did not agree to conclude a contract with the profile units of the defense department, which led to budget losses in particularly large amounts.
Forensic and economic expertise confirmed the facts of defense. Investigators of the SBU reported the exitator of suspicion of misappropriation of property or seizing it by abuse of office, committed in particularly large amounts.
The attacker faces up to 12 years in prison with the confiscation of property, and the issue of choosing a preventive measure is now being resolved.
