The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to maintain a buffer zone on the territory of the Kursk region, preventing the possible advance of Russian troops in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions.
This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
He noted that at a strategic meeting with the commanders and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, the key directions of military operations were discussed. According to him, special attention is paid to the Donetsk direction and the operation in the Kursk region, which has been going on for about six months.
More than 150 battles per day took place at the front, the fiercest attacks in the Pokrovsky direction
In the summer of 2024, the Ukrainian military conducted a successful offensive in the Kursk region, liberating large areas. In the fall, Russia came to the aid of North Korean troops, sending about 11,000 soldiers. However, poor training and the language barrier led to serious losses among them.
Zelenskyi emphasized that maintaining a buffer zone on Russian territory is critically important for preventing enemy attacks on Ukrainian border regions.
