The investigation of the case is conducted by a unit of the territorial administration of the DBR in Lviv. It has already been revealed that the Hungarian was called to military service on June 14, 2025 in Mukachevo. However, already on June 18, he left the place of service, and on June 19 – appealed to the Berehiv Regional Psychiatric Hospital with complaints of poor state of health, severe headache, and, according to him, injury to the head with suspicion of concussion. The ambulance delivered it to the Berehiv District Hospital, where doctors, however, did not find any serious damage to him.
On June 24, Shebestynya was transferred to the regional psychiatric care institution in Beregovo, and on July 7, police found out that the day before the Hungarian died in a medical institution. It was not found signs of violent death and bodily harm.
During the investigation, they conducted a forensic examination, which also did not show signs of violent death, as well as to ask witnesses, including servicemen and doctors.
The day before, Shebestian’s family declared a pro -government newspaper Magyar Nemzet that the Ukrainian State Bureau of Investigation, they say, would not investigate the death of a Hungarian due to a “lack of evidence”.
