Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiga appealed to the Polish side to ensure fair and public accountability for persons who demonstrate xenophobic attitudes towards Ukrainians.

This is reported by przegladsportowy.

15-year-old Darya Gladyr, the daughter of the former volleyball player of the national team of Ukraine Yuriy Gladyr, was at the center of the high-profile story. The girl was harassed by her classmates. According to the parents, they were forced to bring the situation to the public space due to the contradictory reaction and actions of the administration of the educational institution. The incident happened at the TE Vizja private school in Warsaw.

According to the source, the teenagers started insulting Daria after her small conflict with a classmate. At the beginning of October, the girl began to receive insults on social networks: “15 people hate you”, “open your eyes, motherfucker”, “f***ing Ukrainian”, “get out of here, you are not our level”. On the same day, Maryna Gladyr, Daria’s mother, informed the school about the problem by e-mail. One of the representatives of TE Vizja reacted immediately and assured that the problem would be solved.

The next day, Darya spoke again about the insults of her classmates. This time, Marina personally went to school and herself faced insults from schoolchildren. After this incident, the Gladys hired a bodyguard to escort their daughter from school and a lawyer, Mateusz Mickiewicz. The situation could not be resolved, and the school forwarded the case to the police, and the victim of bullying was removed from the list of students of the high school.

“I don’t sleep at night and think how is it possible that my daughter is being punished for being a victim of psychological violence. She is the only victim in this case. Where is the justice?”, said Maryna Gladyr.

As a result, Daria’s parents and the school exchanged lawsuits. The Gladys are demanding compensation from the school for moral damages in the amount of 100,000 zlotys (about 1.2 million UAH). In response, the school demanded 500,000 zlotys (about 6 million UAH) from the volleyball player’s family: 100,000 zlotys for “undermining the reputation of the educational institution” and 100,000 zlotys each for “violation of the right to peace in the workplace” to four school employees. It is interesting that Yuriy and Marina have not even met some of them.

The details of Daria’s removal from the senior roster, that is, the termination of the contract with TE Vizja, also remain unclear. Let’s add that this school is paid. The cost of studying there is 5,000 zlotys (about UAH 60,000) per month. The first court session has already taken place in this case.

Yuriy Gladyr has been performing in Poland since 2018. He has been a citizen of this country since 2013.
