The Czech company Reactive Drone owes the state at least 130 million Czech crowns in taxes for the Chinese drones it resold to Ukraine, inflating the prices by 20 times. This continued from 2023 and until this time, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine refused to comment on the situation.
This was established by detectives from the Czech National Center against Organized Crime, writes Radiožurnál.
The investigation revealed with what a huge margin the firm probably sold drones to Kyiv. According to detectives, the company purchased drones for 36 million kroner, but Ukraine paid 692 million kroner for the same supplies. This means that in 2023 the company sold drones for ten times the purchase price, and in 2024 for even twenty times the purchase price. Such sales margin is not a criminal offense in itself. However, according to the police, the company not only failed to pay income tax, but also transferred most of the funds — 638 million crowns — to Chinese accounts.
Detectives brought charges of tax evasion against the company itself, as well as its executive director and accountant. They tried to artificially lower the tax base with the help of various invoices for allegedly not received goods. The executive director of the firm is in custody, and his co-accused accountant, who admitted her role in the case, is being pursued at large.
The police conducted searches and, together with the Financial Analytical Department, secured about 384 million crowns in crowns and dollars from the company’s accounts. This means that the damage caused to the state budget can be compensated in full. Radiožurnálu’s sources say the loss of 130 million crowns is likely to increase as the firm continued to resell drones in larger volumes this year as well.
Reactive Drone was founded in June 2022 and has only a virtual office in Prague. The lawyer of the accused executive director has not yet commented on the case, and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine did not respond to Radiožurnálu’s inquiries.
Meanwhile, businessman Timur Mindich, who appears in the NABU and SAP case regarding “kickbacks” at Energoatom, is accused of trying to pressure former Defense Minister Rustem Umerov to purchase low-quality bulletproof vests from a specific company.
