A resident of Mykolaiv was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property for treason and cooperation with Russian special services.
According to the materials of the Security Service of Ukraine, the 65-year-old man was recruited by the FSB at the end of February 2022 through a messenger. The main motive of the traitor was the promise of the occupiers regarding his further “evacuation” to Russia, in exchange for which he collected and transmitted data on strategic objects in the south of Ukraine.
The attacker focused attention on repair bases, logistics centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and locations of military units, which the enemy later used to plan missile and drone attacks. To fix targets, the agent drove around the territory in his own car, took photos and collected information through acquaintances during everyday conversations. He sent all the information he received to the curator in the form of voice messages, using a separate mobile phone for the conspiracy.
SBU employees detained the agent in September 2024 while performing another enemy mission. During the searches, gadgets with evidence of intelligence-subversive activities and illegally stored weapons were seized from him. The court found the man guilty under the articles of treason under martial law and illegal handling of weapons, imposing a severe punishment corresponding to the gravity of the crimes committed.
Earlier, in Ternopil and Cherkasy, three car arsonists who were acting on the orders of the Russian Federation were detained. They were looking for easy money on social networks, and their targets were cars undergoing maintenance after completing combat missions on the front lines.
The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police detained a man in Transcarpathia who, acting on the order of the Russian special services, set fire to the vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Red Cross Society.
