The Supreme Court confirmed the life imprisonment for a resident of Kherson, who was found guilty of passing the coordinates of the Ukrainian military to the Russian special services.
This is reported by the General Prosecutor’s Office.
The prosecutors of the General Prosecutor’s Office in all court instances – from the first to the cassation – proved the validity of the most severe punishment.
The court decision includes the confiscation of all property belonging to the woman, as well as full support of the legal position of the prosecution.
As established, the convict acted deliberately and purposefully, and her activities led to shelling of the positions of Ukrainian defenders.
The investigation found out that the woman established contact with a representative of the Russian special services in November 2022.
During the next five months, she systematically transmitted to the occupiers information about the deployment locations and movement routes of Ukrainian units in Kherson.
She added photos, videos and detailed coordinates to the messages, which actually facilitated the organization of attacks on the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to prosecutors, the Russian army used this data to adjust artillery and missile attacks.
The information that the “informant” conveyed to the enemy was valuable for the Russian military, as it related to the operational movement of Ukrainian soldiers and equipment.
It was on the basis of these coordinates that the Russian troops carried out targeted strikes on the positions where the Ukrainian defenders were. According to prosecutors, her actions had a direct consequence in the form of victims and damaged military equipment.
During the trial, the accused did not express any remorse. The court regarded this behavior as additional confirmation of the deliberate nature of her cooperation with the enemy.
Currently, the woman is already serving a prison sentence, and the sentence became final after the decision of the Supreme Court to leave it unchanged.
It will be recalled that the court announced the sentence of ex-prime minister Azarov.
Also in Vinnytsia, an employee of the TCC was convicted of corruption.
