In Kiev, the Shevchenkivsky Court chose a measure of restraint to one of the suspects in spy activities in favor of Hungary. It will remain in custody for 60 days, starting on May 8.
About it reports public.
A woman who is also suspected of spying in favor of Hungary also chose a pre -trial detention measure without determining bail.
According to the SBU, it is about the former serviceman of the security and defense forces of Ukraine, which was dismissed from the unit in 2025.
We will remind, on May 9, the SBU for the first time in the history of Ukraine exposed agents of military intelligence of Hungary. They were spying in Transcarpathia.
According to the investigation, this cell had to collect information on the military protection of the Transcarpathian region, to seek vulnerable places in the land and air defense of the region, as well as to study the socio-political views of the locals: in particular, scenarios of their behavior if Hungarian troops enter the territory of the region.
One of the agents was a 40-year-old former soldier from the Berehiv district, which foreigners were recruited and transferred to “waiting regime” in 2021. In September 2024, the attacker was given the task of studying the moods of the local population.
Another agent was an exVIV serviceman of the security and defense forces of Ukraine, which was dismissed from the unit in 2025.
According to law enforcement officers, it was among its tasks to inform the Hungarian special service about the presence of aircraft and helicopters in the Transcarpathian region, as well as about the defensive systems of the military unit where it was served.
