The Sviatoshyn District Court of Kyiv temporarily removed the mayor of Vyshgorod Oleksiy Momot, who is suspected of misappropriating budget funds.
The decision on suspension was made on October 15. According to the prosecutor, while in office, Momot could influence witnesses or destroy documents that are at the disposal of the city council.
The mayor himself rejected all the accusations and said that his removal could negatively affect the work of the community.
“I head the commission on environmental security and emergency situations, which is responsible for eliminating the consequences of enemy shelling. Dozens of houses were damaged in Vyshgorod, and I coordinate the work of all services,” Momot explained.
The mayor’s lawyer, Ivan Minakov, said that the defense is preparing an appeal against the court’s decision.
In Kyiv, the Sviatoshyn District Court began a hearing on the selection of a preventive measure against the mayor of Vyshhorod Oleksiy Momot. He was suspected of embezzling over UAH 6.6 million.
