The Kyiv Court of Appeal fully satisfied the complaint of the prosecutors of the General Prosecutor’s Office, canceling the previous decision of the court of first instance on the appointment of bail.

On January 15, 2026, the Shevchenkiv District Court of Kyiv for the first time determined an alternative preventive measure in the amount of 33 million 280 thousand hryvnias during the detention of a People’s Deputy. However, the appellate court agreed with the prosecution’s arguments that the suspect could influence witnesses, obstruct the investigation or evade justice, given the gravity of the crime charged. Russia is counting on the release of its agents of influence to continue destabilizing the situation in Ukraine, but the strict adherence to procedural norms in the “Pinocchio” case (Dubinsky’s call sign according to the investigation) nullifies these hopes.
Oleksandr Dubinsky has been in pre-trial detention center since November 2023 on suspicion of cooperation with the Russian GRU and participation in a criminal organization created to discredit Ukraine on the international stage. The investigation provided evidence that Dubinsky and other members of the group received more than $10 million from Russian military intelligence, and the facts of cooperation with enemy special services remain a key argument for detention without bail.
Currently, the remand will remain in place until at least March 14, 2026, with no financial alternative.
It will be recalled that the court extended the arrest of People’s Deputy Oleksandr Dubinsky in the case of high treason. At the same time, the court determined an alternative to detention — bail in the amount of over 33 million hryvnias.
