The Khmelnytskyi City and District Court found the perpetrators guilty of unauthorized dissemination of information about the deployment of the Armed Forces. The main organizer of the group received 12 years of imprisonment, and his accomplice received 10 years of imprisonment.

The convicts turned out to be two residents of Kramatorsk (Donetsk), who had specially come to the western region of Ukraine on the instructions of the Russian special service. Their main goal was to identify the operational airfields of the Defense Forces and monitor the departures of Ukrainian combat aircraft. To collect data, the perpetrators used technical innovations: they installed hidden mini-cameras with remote access near the perimeters of aviation facilities. In particular, they disguised one of these “video traps” on a power line support near the airfield, connecting it to a solar battery for uninterrupted real-time broadcasting.
As the investigation established, the 36-year-old leader of the group came to the attention of the FSB through Telegram channels, where he, being a drug addict, was looking for quick earnings. He involved his 40-year-old acquaintance in carrying out enemy tasks. Thanks to the preventive actions of the SBU, the attackers did not have time to transmit critical data that would allow the enemy to adjust the missile strikes. The security service discovered the cameras in advance and carried out comprehensive measures to secure the strategic locations of the Ukrainian aviation.
