People’s deputies from different factions have registered a new bill in the Council, which should return the independence of the National Anti -Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti -Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP).

The latest changes to the legislation approved by the Verkhovna Rada sharply restricted NABU and SAP’s independence – about it stated Heads of anti -corruption bodies after a meeting at the Presidential Office.
We will remind, the Council adopted a law that actually subordinates the NABU and SAP of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
Brussels is also concerned about NABU and SAP pressure.
After the adoption of Law No. 12414 on NABU and SAP, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Ruslan Kravchenko has received new powers. They will help to “give new energy” criminal proceedings that have not been investigated for years.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), from which Ukraine receives financial and technical support for economic development and reforms, has stated that it shares concern for partners about the events of the National Anti -Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti -Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP).
