On Monday, February 24, the Verkhovna Rada failed to vote for a resolution on support of democracy in Ukraine in the face of aggression of the Russian Federation.
This was reported by the MP from the faction of Voice Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
He noted that 218 deputies voted for the relevant resolution No. 13039 for the minimum required 226.
The document stated that the Verkhovna Rada and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky were elected in free, transparent, democratic elections with the invitation of international observers who recognized the entire international community.
They recalled that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is responsible for the fact that it is impossible to organize democratic elections in Ukraine.
Callas commented Trump’s statements about Zelensky: the President of Ukraine was elected in free and fair elections
“The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine states that the martial law in Ukraine does not allow elections in accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine in the conditions of a full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation. At the same time, the Ukrainian people are the only one that such elections should take place after the war is over, ”the Resolution said in the project.
In the document, Parliament emphasized “the need to comply with the laws provided by the laws of Ukraine of the principle of institutional continuity of power, especially in the conditions of legal regime of martial law.”
In addition, the resolution emphasized that Zelensky should exercise his powers before joining the post of the newly elected President of Ukraine in accordance with Part 1 of Art. 108 of the Constitution of Ukraine.
On February 18, US President Donald Trump lied about the alleged low Zelensky rating at 4% and stated the need for elections in Ukraine. The next day, KIIS reported that the trust in the President of Ukraine is currently about 57%.
On February 19, Zelensky called Trump’s statement about falling up to 4% misinformation. Later the White House leader called Zelensky “dictator without an election ”and accused that “He involved the US in the war. “
On February 23, the President of Ukraine stated that he was ready to leave his post if this will mean peace for Ukraine or its entry into NATO. At the same time, Zelensky noted that it is dangerous to hold elections during the war.
