People’s deputy and member of the defense committee of the Verkhovna Rada Serhiy Rakhmanin said that currently the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is not going to lower the mobilization age from 60 to 50.
Serhii Rakhmanin told about this in an interview with “Ukrainian Pravda”.
Aging is a complex issue. If you look at the demographic situation in Ukraine, you can see that there are many times more middle-aged and older people than young people. Therefore, the rear and auxiliary units will simply be understaffed if these people are deleted from the mobilization resource.
“The General Staff believes that for now, unfortunately, this is not the case. Although some official representatives of the Ministry of Defense and some representatives of the General Staff spoke in favor of lowering this bar to 55 years or even 50. But so far they are not ready to talk about it in the foreseeable future,” Rakhmanin said.
The Cabinet of Ministers allows the option of increasing the volume of reservation of workers in various fields from mobilization. Currently, more than 900,000 people in the business have reservations.
And the Ministry of Defense is to issue an order in the coming days prohibiting the mobilization of men aged 18 to 25 who have been deemed unfit in peacetime and limited fit in wartime.
