Olga Reshetylova, the president’s commissioner for the protection of the rights of military personnel, reported that in 20 days, 3,876 appeals were received, of which more than 300 did not concern her department.

In particular, among the most common problems addressed by servicemen were not being referred to the VLC and treatment, as well as moving between units.

Reshetylova noted that among the appeals there were many cases when servicemen did not receive proper treatment after injuries, were not referred for urgent and planned operations, suffered from post-traumatic disorders, panic attacks and other problems. She emphasized that the military is often forced to turn to the SZCH to receive medical assistance.

The ombudsman told about a case where a serviceman mobilized with HIV did not receive proper treatment and was poorly provided with medical care, even though he was scheduled for surgery. She called on the command to ensure proper treatment and raised the issue of the effectiveness of servicemen’s tasks in such conditions.

Reshetylova also drew attention to the problem with the transfer of military personnel to other units and the lack of a mechanism for reinstatement in military service after release from criminal liability. She expressed her indignation at the delay in the process of consideration of servicemen’s requests by the State Bureau of Investigation.

We previously wrote that the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, appointed Olga Reshetylova to the position of Commissioner for the Protection of the Rights of Servicemen and Their Family Members.
