Jarek Neverovych, former Minister of Energy of Lithuania and Chief Adviser to the President of Lithuania on Environment and Infrastructure, was elected Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Energoatom.
This is reported by Forbes Ukraine.
The first meeting of the council, which was supposed to take place within 30 days of its formation on June 21, was officially opened on time, but was actually held only on January 17.
Several important decisions were made during the meeting, including the election of the deputy chairman of the board, the creation of the audit committee, the election of the secretary and the determination of the composition of the committee. Mike Kirst, the founder and director of EuroAtlantic Partners, who previously held executive positions at Westinghouse Electric Company, became the chairman of the audit committee.
Timothy Stone, the third elected member of the board of supervisors, declined to sign the contract but is considering becoming an adviser. He is chairman of the British Nuclear Industry Association and Nuclear Risk Insurers and was an independent director of Horizon.
One of the reasons for delaying the meeting was the discussion of the level of remuneration of council members. The government refused to accept the salary offered during the interviews (400,000 hryvnias per month) and offered 100,000 hryvnias. As a result, an average market salary, similar to that used in the Naftogaz supervisory board, was agreed upon.
Earlier it was reported that Ukraine and Bulgaria are negotiating the sale of the equipment of the unfinished Belene NPP, in particular two Russian nuclear reactors VVER-1000. They will be installed at the Khmelnytskyi NPP.
JSC NAEC “Energoatom” announced the start of implementation of the project on the construction of power units of the Khmelnytsky NPP at the Khmelnytsky NPP using the American Westinghouse AR1000 technology. The first cube of concrete of power unit No. 5 has already been laid.
