Last year, Smilyansky received UAH 11.7 million before tax (including an extra charge for working with state secrets), on average he earned UAH 970 thousand a month.
He has not received the awards provided for the contract since 2022 on his own initiative.
In Ukraine, the head of Ukrposhta paid UAH 2.4 million in tax, and in the United States – about 2.1 million there he is registered as a tax resident. The funds went to the federal budget from which Ukraine’s military assistance was allocated.
After paying taxes, the net annual income of Smilyansky amounted to 6.9 million hryvnias, or about $ 167 thousand, which corresponds to $ 13,900 per month. For comparison, Smilyansky made a salary of the US President, which is $ 400,000 a year.
