The indictment against People’s Deputy Yevgeny Shevchenko has been sent to the court on the articles of treason, collaborative activity and taking possession of especially large amounts of property – he faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
According to the investigation, Shevchenko systematically disseminated materials on social networks that reproduced propaganda narratives of the Russian Federation, discredited the Ukrainian government, international partners and European integration, thereby creating internal destabilization.
After the defense side has been familiarized with the materials of the proceedings, the documents have been handed over for substantive consideration in court.
Investigators establish that after the start of the full-scale invasion, the deputy continued to publicly broadcast Kremlin fakes, calls to lay down arms, and messages aimed at undermining Ukraine’s defense capabilities and information security — these actions are classified as treason under martial law.
According to law enforcement officers, such activity was carried out on a massive scale through YouTube and Telegram, with deliberate manipulation of the state’s foreign and domestic policy. The court repeatedly continued Shevchenko’s detention for the duration of the investigation, which has been ongoing since November 2024.
A separate episode concerns business contacts with the Belarusian side – it is about the organization of a contract for the supply of mineral fertilizers between private entities, after which the supplier was allegedly informed of false data about the “refusal” of the railway to Belarus from transportation.
The investigation believes that the artificially created obstacle was used to impose a contract for legal services with the FOP related to the deputy’s family, and then to seize the funds.
As a result, UAH 14.5 million was transferred to the account for services that, according to law enforcement officers, were not actually provided — this episode is incriminated as fraud on a particularly large scale.
It will be recalled that the court continued the detention of People’s Deputy Shevchenko accused of treason.
Also, the Prosecutor General’s Office can close the case against People’s Deputy Shevchenko.
