The Security Service of Ukraine completed the investigation and handed over the indictment to the court against the political commentator from Viktor Medvedchuk’s media pool Kyryl Molchanov.
The SBU writes about this.
According to the SBU, in 2022, after working on Medvedchuk’s sanctioned TV channels, Molchanov left for Moscow, where he became a participant in the Kremlin media projects “Second Ukraine” and “Voice of Europe”. According to the department, their activities were coordinated by the special services of the Russian Federation under the leadership of Viktor Medvedchuk.
According to the investigation, Molchanov systematically appeared on Russian propaganda channels, where he supported Russian aggression against Ukraine and spread fakes.
In addition, he organized actions in the EU countries calling for the withdrawal of support for Ukraine and used Telegram and YouTube to spread disinformation.
The suspect is accused of violating three articles of the Criminal Code: treason committed under martial law, cooperation with the aggressor country in the field of information activities, and justification and glorification of armed aggression of the Russian Federation.
The sanctions of the articles provide for life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
As a reminder, on August 1, 2025, the Kyiv District Administrative Court opened simplified proceedings on the claim of the Main Directorate of the DPS against the ex-people’s deputy of Ukraine Viktor Medvedchuk. It is about the recovery of a tax debt in the amount of over one million hryvnias.
Before that, the court in Ukraine satisfied a lawsuit by the Ministry of Justice regarding the prohibition of 8 pro-Russian organizations that were preparing a coup at the beginning of a full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation. The association was coordinated by ex-Deputy Viktor Medvedchuk.
