The Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office sent an indictment to the court against the former director of the state forestry enterprise, accused of organizing illegal logging. This is already the fourth case within the framework of criminal proceedings regarding the destruction of more than 9.5 thousand trees, and the total damage to the environment exceeds UAH 42 million.
This is reported by the General Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the investigation, in 2023, the official issued logging tickets for prohibited areas without reason, which led to the destruction of at least 3,161 trees. Damages from his actions are estimated at more than 14.5 million hryvnias.
As part of the investigation, site inspections were conducted, permit documents were seized, and the groundlessness of issuing logging tickets was confirmed.
Earlier, five officials of the forest farm were informed about the suspicion. The cases of the two are already in court, in December 2025 an indictment was sent against another accomplice.
All are charged with exceeding official authority and illegal felling of the forest, which caused serious consequences (Part 3 of Article 365, Part 4 of Article 246 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)
According to Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent until proven guilty by a court verdict.

State enterprise “Forests of Ukraine” reported about completion of the first stage of the presidential program “Green Country”, saying that a billion trees have been planted throughout the country.
