The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted an action plan for updating the composition of supervisory boards and executive bodies of companies of the fuel and energy complex.
As noted Prime Minister Yuliya Svyridenko, the priority for this week is the approval of the new supervisory board of NAEK “Energoatom”.
The main goal is to renew the management through the formation of a new composition of the supervisory boards of all state-owned companies in the energy sector, which should increase the management efficiency and transparency of these enterprises.
According to the new requirements, enterprises must update their statutes, provisions on the supervisory board and the principles of its formation in accordance with international standards of corporate governance.
Among the companies that must make changes are Naftogaz JSC, Ukrhydroenergo PJSC, as well as Ukrainian GTS Operator and Ukrenergo. The Ministry of Economy will coordinate the implementation of this plan, and regular reports on its implementation will become part of transparent communication between the government and society.
This step is a response to the need for reforms in the Ukrainian energy sector, in particular after the emergence of scandals surrounding the management of state-owned companies. The Prime Minister also announced the audit of all state-owned companies, which will be an important stage for ensuring transparency and trust in state institutions.
