The basic military training program was extended to 1.5 months — General Staff

This decision was approved by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi, the General Staff informed NV.

The pilot project for 45-day training began in October on the basis of four key training centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Almost 500 new recruits were attracted to it.

However, according to the publication’s interlocutor at the General Staff, such training already showed positive results within two weeks, so the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces decided to transfer all training centers to conduct basic military training for 1.5 months from November 1.

At the same time, military personnel undergoing training abroad will continue to study for 30 days. They will start training for 1.5 months already in January 2025.

The program of basic military training was increased by 78 hours, the General Staff reported. The expansion of the BZVP involves an increase in the duration of fire training programs, tactical medicine and other important training courses.

In order to improve the personnel training system, the Main Department of Doctrine and Training has developed the main areas of development:

• transfer to BZVP with a training period of 1.5 months (with the possibility of further expansion);

• transformation of the instructor training system;

• replacing the officer positions of teachers with sergeant positions, which will make it possible to reduce the dependence of training centers on the officer staff and increase their authority;

• conducting an adaptation course in military units not only after BZVP, but also after professional training and training of sergeants.
