The Rheinmetall company confirmed the start of deliveries of Lynx infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine. The first machine is already undergoing field trials in the Armed Forces.
This was reported by Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger, quoted by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
According to him, the first such car was delivered to Ukraine in December 2024. It was produced by the Rheinmetall plant in the German community of Unterluss. Currently, tests of military equipment are ongoing.
It is also expected that mass production will begin in the near future.
KF41 Lynx is a tracked platform developed and manufactured by the German company Rheinmetall. Can be used as an infantry fighting vehicle, a command and staff vehicle, a combat reconnaissance vehicle or a medical vehicle.
Its main armament is a 30 mm or 35 mm automatic cannon located in the LANCE turret. In addition, the machine is armed with a machine gun and a launcher for anti-tank missiles, which can be equipped according to the customer’s requirements.
The BMP is protected against 30-mm projectiles in the frontal projection and from 14.5-mm projectiles — in the side ones. The bottom of the machine guarantees explosion protection equivalent to 10 kg of TNT.
The power plant of the BMP is a strong Liebherr D9612 engine, which allows you to develop a speed of 70 km/h. Range on the track is 500 km. The crew of the combat vehicle consists of three people. Landing – up to 9 soldiers.
In July 2024, the Rheinmetall company announced that it plans to open four military factories in Ukraine. The first plant is to produce Lynx infantry fighting vehicles and provide maintenance services, providing support for both infantry and armored units.
Rheinmetall also plans to open in Ukraine, in addition to an armored tank powder plant, a tank ammunition plant, as well as establish the production of anti-aircraft systems.
