US President-elect Donald Trump has announced that Florida congressman Matt Goetz will be nominated for the post of United States attorney general. Getz is known for his opposition to providing aid to Ukraine.
Trump wrote about this on the Truth Social social network.
Trump noted that Goetz is a “highly qualified and focused lawyer.” In Congress, he has established himself as a supporter “necessary reforms in the Ministry of Justice”.
The potential director of the US National Intelligence opposes aid to Ukraine
Trump also emphasized that Matt “will protect our borders, fight organized crime, and restore American confidence in the Department of Justice.”
“As a member of the House Judiciary Committee, which oversees the Department of Justice, Matt was instrumental in exposing the Russia, Russia, Russia hoax and exposing massive government corruption and abuse of power,” Trump said.
In April 2022, when the House of Representatives passed a bill to restore Lend-Lease, a World War II-era program, 417 congressmen voted for it. Only 10 opposed it, including Matt Getz.
Getz also became famous for being one of the initiators of the resignation of the speaker of the US House of Representatives from the Republican Party in the fall of 2023. This halted the voting process for the allocation of aid to Ukraine for a long time and caused a serious split among the Republicans.
