The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrsky spoke at the meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council and informed the allies about the situation at the front. He emphasized that Russia does not give up the war and continues massive strikes on the rear of Ukraine. Separately, Syrskyi stated about the critical shortage of anti-aircraft defense means. He wrote about this in Facebook.

“In a speech to colleagues from the Alliance, he talked about the operational situation at the front, which remains difficult,” the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces noted. Syrsky emphasized that despite numerous peace initiatives and diplomatic efforts of partners, Moscow continues its aggression against Ukraine.

“Despite the peace initiatives and all the efforts of its partners, Moscow does not give up the continuation of the aggressive war and the achievement of its main strategic goal – the destruction of Ukrainian statehood,” he emphasized. According to the commander-in-chief, for the war against Ukraine, Russia has concentrated a combined group of troops numbering more than 715,000 people. These forces continue active combat operations at the front and at the same time strike at the Ukrainian rear.

Syrsky noted that Russia is systematically attacking Ukraine’s critical infrastructure, in particular the energy sector, trying to put pressure on the civilian population. “Also, Russia does not stop launching missile and air strikes on critical objects of our economy, primarily on the energy sector, trying to influence Ukrainians in the rear with darkness and cold,” explained the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces.

During the meeting, Sirsky paid special attention to the issue of anti-aircraft defense. He emphasized that air defense is the most critical need for Ukraine today. “I informed colleagues from NATO countries that the most critical thing for Ukraine is the need to strengthen the air shield,” Sirskyi said.

According to him, the significant shortage of air defense means does not allow to fully protect the civilian population and critical infrastructure objects from missile and drone attacks. The commander-in-chief also informed the allies about the current needs of the Defense Forces of Ukraine and thanked them for the support already provided. According to him, the partners confirmed their readiness to continue helping Ukraine.

Syrsky emphasized that the key task for the state remains the strengthening of defense capabilities. “Our primary task should be to create conditions for a just peace by strengthening our military capabilities,” concluded the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
