On June 13, 2023, the bomber crew took off from Engels Airfield and launched Kh-101 cruise missiles from the airspace over the Caspian Sea.
The rockets hit the food base and the building of the former taxi park, killing 8 civilians and injuring 3 more people. The impact damaged residential buildings, office and warehouse premises, shops, administrative buildings and transport.
An investigation is currently underway to identify all persons involved in this tragedy.
