The bachelor’s admission campaign has ended in 2025, and its results indicate a significant gap in popularity between humanities and technical specialties.
By data The Education UA site, the leader in the number of applications submitted was “Management”, which has been attracted to entrants for the first year. But much less statements received specialty, critical for the state, including engineering, natural and transport directions.
Top 10 least popular specialties in Ukraine 2025
In the top ten, the most popular specialties are included:

Only 5 applications were submitted to the Information Security Management Specialty.

Children and Youth Services (46 applications);

“Religious Studies” (79 applications);

Theology (260 applications);

“Woodworking and Furniture Technologies” (265 applications);

Public Health (326 applications);

Statistics (420 applications);

Light Industry Technologies (503 statements);

Labor Protection (514 applications).
Nevertheless, a low number of applications does not always mean easy budget. Thus, for “religious studies” the competition was 8 people per place, and on the “theology” entrants immediately went to a contract, since the budget places were not allocated.
Low interest in STEM (technical) disciplines
Officials are concerned about this trend. According to them, despite various promotions for entrants, such as increasing budget areas, lower grant support points and sectoral ratio, these specialties have not become popular.
Low interest in STEM education is laid at school, so the Ministry of Education and Science is working on attracting subsidies for STEM laboratory. According to estimates, only 1-2 people claimed a budget place in such specialties as “Chemistry”, “Physics and Astronomy”, “Electrical Engineering” and others.
