The US presidential candidate from the Republican Party, Donald Trump, threatened Russian dictator Vladimir Putin with an attack on the center of the Russian capital.
Trump himself said this at a meeting with the editors of The Wall Street Journal.
The former president said that he told Putin: “Vladimir, if you persecute Ukraine, I will hit you so hard that you will not even believe it. I will strike right at the center of bloody Moscow.”
The politician added that he also said the following: “We are friends. I don’t want to do it, but I have no choice.”
Trump did not specify when and under what circumstances this conversation took place.
Earlier, Trump also confirmed his good relations with Putin and said that the dictator had warned him about his intention to invade Ukraine.
“He talked about it,” Trump said, assuring that in the end the Russian dictator decided on a military invasion because of the current President of the United States, Joe Biden.
Trump’s position on Russia’s war against Ukraine
Earlier it was reported that the ex-president of the USA repeatedly promised to quickly stop the war in Ukraine after winning the presidential elections. According to him, he knows both the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky very well, so he will be able to “solve this problem very quickly.”
He also claimed that he could end the war “in 24 hours”. Trump has said that he would “allow” Russia to take over part of Ukraine and that the US is transferring too many weapons to Ukraine.
Meanwhile, in May 2024, The Washington Post reported that Trump said at a campaign event that he would bomb Moscow if it launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine during his time in the Oval Office.
In response to Trump’s pre-election promises, the President of Ukraine emphasized that the Russian dictator cannot be stopped by agreements. He said that he would like to see Trump in Ukraine so that he could see the consequences of the war with his own eyes.
One of Trump’s national security advisers, retired Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg, said he was considering a new one “peace plan”, which should incline Russia and Ukraine to negotiations.
During a debate with Democratic US presidential candidate Kamala Harris, Trump did not answer the moderator’s question about whether he wanted Ukraine to win the war with Russia. He said he wanted the war to stop.
