Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sibiga called on the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the international community to put pressure on Russia due to the long shutdown of the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (ZPP) from the power system of Ukraine.
Andriy Sibiga wrote about it on the network.
“The Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant has been left without power supply for almost three weeks, which is threatening nuclear security. Russia deliberately disconnected the station from the Ukrainian power system to force a test of connection to the Russian power system. Such actions have never been in the history of nuclear energy. It is not only an attempt to steal a peaceful Ukrainian nuclear object. The Minister called on the international community to clearly recognize Russia and Rosatom’s actions illegal, unacceptable and critically dangerous, emphasizing that Russia had attacked and seized a peaceful Ukrainian nuclear object, placed its military staff and weapons there, and now replaced its perimeter.
“In order to put an end to the dangerous switching off of electricity, Russia must stop the shelling and provide repair of power lines-Russia can do so at any time. We urge the international community to clearly recognize Russia and Rosatom’s actions illegal, unacceptable and critically dangerous. We urge the IAEA to put pressure on Russia so that it stops all technical transformations at the station and returned to its legal owner, Ukraine, ”Sibiga said.
