Despite the court’s decision on the possibility of making this bail, Shufrych remained in the pretrial detention center due to procedural difficulties that arose as a result of the sanctions imposed on him by the NSDC.
Sanctions were imposed in January 2025 based on a decision by the National Security Council, which provides for long-term restrictions against Shufrich in connection with accusations of high treason.
The SBU suspects him of cooperation with former Ukrainian officials who fled to Russia and engaged in subversive activities in Ukraine. Shufrych is also accused of financing Russian military formations.
Today’s question about Shufrych’s possible release from the pretrial detention center will ultimately depend on the speed of the bail process. The case is drawing attention because of the legal complications and seriousness of the allegations, which cast doubt on his political future.
Mass media report that the Kyiv Court of Appeal passed the decision to release from custody People’s Deputy Nestor Shufrych, who is accused of high treason. He was given such an opportunity after posting bail.
We will remind that on November 19, the court extended the detention of People’s Deputy from the banned “OPZZ” Nestor Shufrych until January 17, 2026, without the possibility of posting bail. His former assistant was extended a preventive measure — house arrest until January 19, 2026.
The Security Service of Ukraine, together with the State Bureau of Investigation and the Prosecutor General’s Office, collected a well-argued evidence base of Shufrych’s anti-Ukrainian activities. According to the SBU materials, he was informed of the suspicion under Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason).
On November 28, People’s Deputy Nestor Shufrych, accused of high treason, registered a draft law on amendments to the Code of Administrative Procedure, which allows to suspend the effect of certain presidential decrees.
