Shmyhal explained why Kyiv continues emergency shutdowns without schedules

Denys Shmyhal reported that the deficit in the energy system persists.

“The strategic task is the plan for the development of distributed generation of the city. We have to reach additional capacities of more than 100 MW. This will make the capital more resistant to attacks,” he emphasized.

The official informed that the department is currently working on clearing permit and bureaucratic delays or obstacles in order to speed up the installation of cogeneration plants and modular boiler houses.

Also, according to him, work is going on around the clock, without breaks, to speed up the supply of heat to people, two crews are working at the same time at individual facilities.

According to the Ministry of Development, a total of 60 additional brigades were sent to the capital to eliminate accidents: 40 brigades were provided by Ukrzaliznytsia, 18 came to help from the regions, in particular 13 from the Kyiv region, Kyivteploenergo specialists were also involved. On Tuesday, January 20, the arrival of three more brigades from Lviv is expected.

“I am grateful to the energy workers, utility workers and rescuers who, in extremely difficult conditions, return comfort to the homes of Ukrainians,” said Denys Shmyhal.
