In Transcarpathia, mass poisoning was recorded after an informal youth festival near Shipit Waterfall. According to updated data, the number of victims increased to 38 people.
This was reported by the Transcarpathian Regional Center for Control and Prevention of Diseases of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
The infection struck 28 camp participants near the waterfall and 10 other tourists who were on excursions in the area. All patients receive medical care. The condition of patients is predominantly moderate, severe or fatal cases.
The preliminary cause of an outbreak of acute intestinal infection is called the use of uncharted water from the waterfall of spike, which was used for both drinking and cooking.
Experts continue the epidemiological investigation and carry out medical observations of contact persons.
Doctors are reminded of the basic safety rules during the recreation in nature:
