The holiday of Ukraine on September 18, 2025
On September 18, Mirgorod Day and Lubny Day are celebrated.
Mirgorod is a small but very colorful city in Ukraine. It is one of the oldest settlements of the Left Bank Ukraine. Historians suggest that it was founded in the XII -XIII centuries as a guard point of the eastern outskirts of Kievan Rus. The first references to Mirgorod occur in the XVI century. In particular, in 1576, by the decision of the Polish King Stefan Batori Mirgorod, he became the center of the Registered Cossack Regiment.
Lubny is also one of the oldest cities in Ukraine, which was founded in 988 by Grand Duke of Kiev Vladimir I Svyatoslavich. The city was created in honor of Christianity and served as one of the fortresses of the Posul Defense Line to protect the southern borders of Kievan Rus from the steppe attackers. According to historical data, Lubny was known for their own traditions of self -government, because they received the Magdeburg right at the end of the sixteenth century.

Refusing worldly pleasures, he joined the monastery, where he snapped in service, post and continuous prayer. He was distinguished by humility, patience and generosity to the poor. Due to the high spiritual authority, the fraternity and the people chose him as Bishop of Gorhine (Ancient Metropolitanate of Crete). At the Episcopal Department, he proved himself as a real shepherd: he taught, strengthened in faith, helped the disadvantaged and defended the church from heresies. St. Emenius rested peacefully in the 7th century, being exile for loyalty to the Orthodox faith. His relics were stored in Cyprus and worshiped as a source of healing.
