Earth is still suffering from magnetic storms of weak and moderate intensity, which have been going on for several days.

Today, January 13, geomagnetic activity will remain at the Kr-4 level, an active state on the NOAA scale.

Experts from the British Geological Survey predict a rapid improvement.

The increased speed of the solar wind – about 560-600 km/s – is caused by the “northern coronal hole” on the Sun.

This structure opens up the star’s magnetic field, ejecting streams of charged particles toward Earth. This is what provokes moderate disturbances in the planet’s magnetosphere.

Observations indicate that tomorrow, January 14, the solar wind will slow down and the storm will subside. The geomagnetic background will return to a calm or unstable level with a K-index of 2-3.

Such dynamics are typical for the influence of coronal holes that pass in 1–2 days.

As a reminder, Ukrainians should prepare for the impact of geomagnetic disturbances that will continue in the coming days.

Also, nine dangerous periods for weather-dependent people are expected in January 2026.
