Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors of the Attorney General’s office, the facts of the theft of budget funds during public procurement for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were established.
According to the investigation, in December 2024, the director of a private partnership staged a state-owned enterprise of the Ministry of Defense 18,000 protective ballistic glasses-masks. The head of the specialized unit and other officials of the Ministry of Defense did not control the quality of the delivered goods. The first samples received negative conclusions of laboratory tests, but repeated tests in accredited laboratories were not conducted.
Instead, the supplier provided positive test protocols from another organization, and the head of the special unit approved the product of the goods as a quality one. Mask glasses were transferred to the military unit and the funds were transferred to the supplier.
As a result, the Ministry of Defense suffered material losses for more than UAH 25.7 million.
The actions of the suspects are qualified under Part 5 of Art. 191 and Part 4 of Art. 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. One person involved is detained, the issue of choosing a preventive measure is resolved. The pre -trial investigation is ongoing, other Ministry of Defense officials are checked.
