Defense Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during question time to the government in the Verkhovna Rada confirmed that military personnel receive their salaries in full due to timely funding of the budget.
The minister noted that there are no delays in payments to the military and this practice will be continued next year, writes “ Ukrinform “.
“The salary or financial support of military personnel is paid in full, due to the fact that the budget is supported on time. I thank the parliament and the people’s deputies for this. We do not have and have never had delays in payments to the military. This will continue next year. As of now, the financial support is also paid in full, plus all the additional payments that are due,” Shmyhal noted.
As of today, military personnel receive both the basic and all additional payments due to them.
He reminded that part of the servicemen in the Defense Forces serve on a contract basis, and the government is currently working on improving the conditions of contract service. The relevant draft law has already been prepared by the Ministry of Defense.
“Today the government will consider and, I hope, support the draft law of the Ministry of Defense on the introduction of additional changes to the contractual form of the service, i.e. the annual contract. And further, after supporting this draft law in the parliament, we can start with the contract form, which will also provide for other conditions for military personnel. Of course, we are working on making them better than the existing ones,” Shmyhal informed.
At the same time, the minister noted that institutional and legislative changes are needed in the issue of monetary support as such in order to work on its improvement.
Prime Minister Yuliya Svyridenko also drew attention to the budget plans, according to which UAH 2.8 trillion are earmarked for the security and defense sector in 2026, of which UAH 1.4 trillion will be spent on servicemen’s wages. These financial decisions are important for maintaining the country’s defense capability in the event of a conflict.
