In the early hours of March 18, Russian forces launched a drone assault on the Odesa region of Ukraine, damaging critical infrastructure and some equipment. The attack involved the use of strike drones, according to local officials.
Odesa’s regional governor, Maksym Marchenko, reported that there were no casualties resulting from the strike. Emergency services responded swiftly to extinguish a fire that broke out at the site of the attack, and efforts to mitigate the damage are ongoing.
This incident is part of a broader pattern of aerial assaults on Ukraine, with March 18 witnessing a significant wave of attacks. In total, Russia deployed 147 drones from six different directions during the night. Ukrainian air defense forces successfully intercepted the majority of these threats.
However, 15 drones managed to hit 12 locations across the country, while debris from downed drones fell in three additional areas, causing further complications for emergency responders.
A recent drone attack by Russian forces on the Odesa region resulted in damage to critical infrastructure but no reported casualties. This incident is part of a larger series of aerial assaults targeting Ukraine, with significant drone activity noted on the same night.
