On April 4, Russian forces launched two attacks on infrastructure belonging to Naftogaz in the Poltava region of Ukraine, resulting in a fire.
The company reported that the assaults were carried out using drones, with the initial strike followed by a subsequent attack shortly thereafter.
Serhiy Koretsky, the head of Naftogaz, confirmed that there were no casualties and expressed gratitude to the State Emergency Service for their prompt response. He stated, “Ahead of Catholic Easter, Russian troops targeted the infrastructure assets of the Naftogaz Group. Fortunately, there were no injuries.”
Emergency services are currently on-site to manage the aftermath of the attacks.
Naftogaz also noted that Russia has been persistently targeting the oil and gas sector, with more than 40 attacks on its facilities reported since the beginning of the year.
